ok i definitly know bios for this anime, there long, here they are.
Keitaro Urashima is a 20 year old ronin, a drifter who has his heart set on getting into Tokyo University, a prestigious and highly competitive school. Does he want to do this to get a better job and lot in life (a goal of many Japanese males). No, he just wants to meet up again with the girl that he used to play with in the sand box when they were five years old. So at the beginning of the series he has already failed his entrance examinations twice. Japanese universities give examinations to prospective students to test their knowledge, to see if they are smart enough to do well. Now Keitaro's not the brightest light on the Christmas tree, but he could probably manage to pass an entrance examination for a lesser school, and do reasonably well in life. After failing twice and bull-headedly deciding to try for Tokyo University a third time, his parents have gotten tired of supporting him. So he goes to Hinata Lodge, which is owned and run by his grandmother, to see if he can stay there rent free while he studies. But unknown to him, his grandmother has recently departed...on a world tour, seeking romance, leaving the lodge in the hands of Keitaro's 27 year old aunt, Haruka Urashima. The lodge has been turned into an all-girl's dorm, no guys allowed. But the aunt convinces the girls to let Keitaro stay on as a caretaker of the lodge (more like janitor and custodian and repairman) in exchange for free rent.
Narusegawa Naru is a 17 year old high school girl who is finishing up her senior year in high school, and is staying at the lodge while she studies, preparing to take her university exams for the first time. She too, has her sights set on the prestigious Tokyo University, and does not intend to settle for any lesser school. Narusegawa is very cute, when she's not dressed up as a nerd with her coke bottle glasses on. She is very near sighted when she has her glasses off, and can't even see well enough at normal conversational distance to recognize people she knows with any accuracy. In the manga her room is directly above the caretaker's room which is the one Keitaro takes up residence in. There's a hole in the floor of her room, which she covers with a board to keep from falling through. The first time Keitaro moves the board to see what is on the other side, he catches Narusegawa changing clothes. She clobbers him in response. But this only seems to set up the pattern to the relationship. Once when she pokes her head down to ask him a question, and catches him changing, she clobbers him then too, and then has to apologise for her conditioned reflex. She does end up being a good study partner for Keitaro, helping him to bring up his own grades in the mock exams taken at schools that help you learn enough to qualify to get into a good school. But you have to wonder if exposure to him is very good for her studies, and whether or not his stupidity might rub off on her. At one point Keitaro even becomes convinced that she might be the girl he once played with in the sand box. But when he confesses that belief to her, she points out that she would have been two years old at the time, so no way it could be her and she wouldn't remember a promise made when she was two anyway. If this deduction represents how good Keitaro's math and reasoning skills are, no wonder he's having trouble getting into the university.
Mitsune Konno, age 19, is a part-time job hopper who has stayed on at the lodge after finishing school. She has no university aspirations, and only wants to have a good time. When she sees a potential relations developing between Keitaro and Narusegawa, she decides to meddle in the relationship, to try to move it along. The interference only gets in the way though.
Haruka Urashima, age 27, is Keitaro's aunt, and was caretaker for the lodge during the absence of the grandmother. One gets the sense that she is greatful for the opportunity to turn responsibility for the lodge and the girls over to someone else, though she does still stay involved with the girls and the lodge.
Motoko Aoyama hails from the Shinmei Mountains where she was a member of a family renowned for its warrior skills. She herself is very skilled with kendo. She also acts very non-feminine and resents Keitaro's presence in the lodge. Motoko is always threatening or chasing Keitaro with her sword, should he attempt anything with the younger girls of the lodge. Poor Keitaro somehow frequently ends up getting dumped into the hot spring when the girls are there, and he will get chased for that too
Su Koallo, age 13, seems to have come from some Asian country, and was sent to Japan to learn. While she acts like she just came out of the jungle, climbing trees and people with equal alacrity, she also has a strong technological streak. She may suddenly appear at a key scene wearing a virtual reality computer helmut where she can review findings concerning someone or something whenever the plot seems to need that information. Su is very active and tends to attach herself to a single person, who better have good stamina to be able to put up with her. When Motoko goes back to the mountains for three days for training, she picks Keitaro and he finds her very exhausting to put up with.
Shinobu Maehara turns 13 shortly after Keitaro's arrival. She is very shy. She is also a good cook, qualities that are highly prized among Japanese housewives. She ends up developing a bit of a school girl crush on Keitaro. She also ends up crying a lot in the series, over little things like Keitaro trying to help her with laundry only to have her hanging up her underwear to dry at just that moment
Seta - it seems that Keitaro isn't the only person who wants to go to Tokyo University to be closer to someone, and Shinobu isn't the only one to develop a school girl crush. Seta spent time tutoring Narusegawa when she first arrived at the lodge at the age of 15, and she turned into a good student from a poor one, because she was trying to impress him and enroll in Tokyo University where he is an Assistant Professor. But he takes and extended leave of absence to go abroad, leaving her feeling abandoned at the time. She continued her study habits. Seta shows back up later, and turns out to be a highly surprising individual, with many unusual skills (of which driving a van does not seem to be one of them as he is always driving it into a ditch or something).
Sarah, Seta's very bratty preteen daughter that Seta has been dragging around the world with him on his archeological digs. Sarah really loves her father and doesn't want to be separated from him, so when she gets dumped on Keitaro as a baby sitter, she works to give him an incredibly hard time.
Mutsumi Otohime is a female version of Keitaro who Keitaro and Narusegawa met while on a trip to Kyoto that they DIDN'T go on together. Mutsumi, like Keitaro, is also a third year drifter who is trying to leave her life on a volcanic island in southern Japan, and also attend Tokyo University. Only she's even worse than Keitaro. She is not only a klutz, but she is subject to fainting spells and has to be frequently rescued. She and Keitaro end up getting along great because finally there is a person who is actually in need of his help
